Bands to Watch: Cracked Alice 9/3/15

Cracked Alice BannerThe music scene is alive and well… Indeed that phrase is true considering how much Rock & Roll finds its way onto the Billboard 200 time and time again to once again be ignored by the popular culture that may be.  More and more artists are continuously touring and breathing in new life to emerging musicians, to be the inspiration they need to continue on the legacy that is Rock & Roll. But what about those emerging artists? New York City has a plethora of artists ranging in all styles, influences and genres. Then we find one who manages to fulfill an almost complete spectrum with a musical selection and a dynamic show to boot. Brooklyn’s own “Cracked Alice” emerged into the New York City community in July 2012,  with Matthew Paul and Alex Lynxx hoisting the vocal and guitar responsibilities as well as familiar face Luis Cambero on the drum throne. I use to work for Luis’ previous band “Tired Wings” before Cracked Alice. The man is a stellar drummer through and through and can stand atop the emerging artists’ plateau with the best. The bands history also includes sharing the stage with Saliva and Hanzel und Gretel.

Lead Singer Matthew Paul (L.) with current bassist Valerio Fludio (R.).

In a ever shrinking city that see’s iconic venue’s closing and establishments providing fewer and fewer options for emerging artist’s to perform, Cracked Alice has managed to secure a dominant fan base with just two E.P’s released. Their debut E.P “Contents Under Pressure” was released in 2013 and they followed up with “Soul Debris” in 2014. There is heart in this band and I can certainly vouch for that. The music created has an essence that has been lost in the New York community. There is music with passion and a lust to be pushed further into a scale some bands can only dream of. We have here one hell of a chance to redefine the NY community. Check out their music below along with some links on where to find them.
