Who’s The Masta???? Volumes/Northlane 12/3/15

Volumes Banner

It is truly a tragedy when I only get to see Volumes perform maybe twice a year. To add to this tragedy, I haven’t seen Northlane perform since the introduction of Marcus Bridge (lead vocals) when the band touched down onto Irving Plaza back in early 2014. The dynamic duo came together to bring out an easy contender for my top show of 2015. Volumes recruited Born of Osiris vocalist Joe Buras for the departed Michael Barr a week before the tour began. The shows continued without hitches on every stop and the New York City stop was by far one of the best Volumes set I have ever witnessed. When the crowd is moshing, the crowd is surfing, the photographers are bouncing around and even security are singing your tunes as you turn out Gramercy Theater, you know that set was absolutely bananas. Throw in special guests Chris Baretto of Monuments and Dariano of Woe, Is Me… yeah, you really s**t the bed if you missed this event.

Prior to the show, my colleague and master chef Brian Cao came down to provide catering to both bands who were not only surprised, but humbled by the gesture. before the Volumes and Northlane sets, Northlane paid a surprise visit to Brian’s restaurant “Mira Sushi & Izakaya” which is conveniently 4 blocks away from the venue, with their producer Will Putney. I ventured there literally ten minutes before they showed up to grab a bite to eat with my girlfriend since Volumes was not on until 9:10pm. Northlane performed at 10:20 and closed out the show with rawring ovations from the audience and a massive green room party after the show with everyone conversing and relishing the night that closed out (well, once everyone was done moving out gear of course). The laughs, the joy and the music were all positive the entire night, one of which I wont forget and this tour package was ridiculously good together. Check out the photos below and information to Brian’s restaurant below.
